CACR 15 (2024) Failed

Supermajority to Raise Taxes

126 Democrats voted AGAINST requiring a supermajority to raise taxes

What This Bill Does

Constitutional amendment requiring a 2/3 supermajority vote of the legislature to pass any new income, sales, capital gains, estate, or inheritance tax.

The Full Story

CACR 15 failed 183-185 in 2024 — just 2 votes short. Only 1 Democrat voted for requiring a supermajority to impose new broad-based taxes. This was the predecessor to CACR 12, which later passed the Senate 16-8 in 2026.

Democrats consistently refuse to make it harder to impose new taxes on Granite Staters.
